About Business Maps
Business Maps was founded in 1996 to answer a new need for professionally designed, computer-ready location maps, triggered by the unstoppable expansion of websites and emails as the favourite ways to communicate.
Many organisations then realised that what was acceptable when faxing or posting location maps, had become impossible and unacceptable in terms of quality for emails and web sites.
The cheap and easy option of using third party web-based map engines offered a number of disadvantages: lower quality of presentation; no integration with corporate identity; missing information such as local landmarks; and worst of all, they usually forced prospective visitors to waste time zooming in and out, or panning North, South, East & West before they could assemble reasonably complete travel information.
In comparison, each Business Map is intended to give the full picture at once. Each map is tailor-made because our clients usually have quite different visitor profiles. Two adjacent locations, one a company Head Office and the other a Hotel or Car Dealer, will need very different maps. The first will need to show how to travel from anywhere in the country, from the motorway network down to local streets whereas the second will only need to show nearby streets and a few significant landmarks.
This great variety of needs has given us experience in designing thousands of maps over the years and makes us uniquely qualified to work on any type of project from a simple street locator map up to a large series of multi-scale maps and written travel directions in the UK or Internationally.
